School & Group Visits

Come and learn on our miniature working farm and kitchen gardens. You can get up close with animals, get involved in growing fruit and veg or learn about how we make compost.

We offer school trips on a Monday either in a morning or afternoon slot. Schools can book a one-hour session (2 workshops) or a two-hour session (4 workshops) and can chose from the following:

  • Animal Tour and Feeding (recommended)

  • Bees and Pollination - the story of a strawberry

  • Plant a Seed and Salad Tasting in our Veg Gardens

  • Compost and Worms

  • Have a Go at Milking

  • Wonderful Wool

  • Pony Grooming (subject to animals being available)

  • Small Animal Handling

  • All About Birds (eggs and feathers)

Prices

A one-hour session is priced at £3.60 per child (paid in advance and non-refundable unless the visit does not go ahead)

A two-hour session is priced at £6.60 per head

We can have a maximum of one class or 30 children on the farm at each time. Please see below for ideas to extend your trip or bring two classes.

Extra Information

Please note, we cannot provide an indoor space to eat lunch. We can provide somewhere to leave bags and may be able to provide an outdoor space with prior arrangement.

We cannot accommodate more than one class at the farm at one time. However, we have a wonderful park across the road from us (The Heeley People’s Park) which has play equipment and plenty of space to run around. This could be used as a space to eat lunch, have an additional class or extend the trip to make it fill a school day. Heeley City Farm doesn’t manage this space and would not provide risk assessments or accept any liability.

In the event a trip is cancelled due to adverse weather, Heeley City Farm will find an alternative date or offer a refund. We will not refund for individual places booked but not attended on the day (we may change bookings beforehand if you contact us).
